The origin of Ha Tien 1 Cement Joint Stock Company was Ha Tien cement factory equipments of company was supplied by VENOT.PIC of French Republic. First operated with running capacity of 240.000 metric tons of clinker per annum in Kien Luong and 280.000 metric tons of cement per annum in Thu Duc factory in 1964. Ten years later the factory signed a credit agreement with Polysus to extend its designed capacity from 300.000 metric tons of cement per annum increase it designed capacity to 1.3 million metric tons of cement per annum. After the Independence of Vietnam, the factory was requisites by the Government in 1977.
In 1981, Ha Tien Cement factory was separated into Kien Luong factory and Thu Duc factory then was merged again in 1983, changed its name to Ha Tien Cement Factory Complex.
On August 19, 1986 the third grinding line was put into use in February 1991, operated the clinker rotary kiln in Kien Luong and increase the capacity to 1.3 million metric tons of cement per annum.
The separation of Ha Tien1 Factory Complex into Ha Tien Cement 2 Factory (based in Kien Luong) with total capacity of 1.1 million metric tons of Clinker and 500.000 metric tons of cement per annum; and Ha Tien Cement 1 Factory (based in Thu Duc – Ho Chi Minh City) with capacity of 800.000 metric tons of cement per annum.
From this period Ha Tien 1 Factory went on a several changes and developments by the merging with the Material and Supply Company 1 on the 01 of April 1993 and changed its name to Ha Tien 1 Cement Company on September 30, 1993 by the order of Ministry of Construction.
Ha Tien 1 Cement Company invested 39.34 million USD in a joint venture with Holder bank Corporation – Switzerland to established a Sao Mai Cement Joint Venture Company in December 03, 1994 with the designed capacity of 1.760.000 metric tons of cement per annum.
In April 1995, authorized by Vicem, Ha Tien 1 Cement Company joint venture with Super Mix Asia Pte Ltd (Malaysia and Singapore), to form a Vietnam Concrete Complex Joint Venture (SPMV) with design capacity of 100.000 m3 of concrete per annum. Ha Tien 1 Cement Company has 30% of total capital of 1 million USD.
From this point onward, sustainable Productions and environment protection has been the company’s targets for future investments hence in November 1994, the upgrading production capacity project (increase by 500.000 metric ton per annum) approved by the Government with total investment of 23.475.000 USD started on June 15 1999 and operated in 2001.
Ha Tien 1 Cement Company equities it own Transportation Enterprise to Ha Tien Transportation Joint Stock Company and hold 30% share equivalent to 14.4 billion VND on January 21, 2000 and on the 06 of February 2007, Ha Tien 1 Cement Company announced it transition from State Owned Enterprise to a Joint Stock Company by the order of Ministry of Construction with the registration no. 4103005941 of Department of Planning and Investment issued on 18 January 2007 with total capital of 870 billion VND.
